Pick-up (Truck)

A pickup truck (also pick-up truck, pickup, bakkie in South Africa) is a light motor vehicle with an open-top rear cargo area (bed) which is almost always separated from the cab. These vehicles are generally used for carrying or pulling heavy loads, such as construction or mining projects. There are different types of the pickups; compact pickups are the most common pickups built like the smaller versions of heavy trucks. Full size pickups are large pickups suitable for carrying heavy loads. Dual wheeled pickup trucks are the largest full size pickups with doubled rear tires. Midsize pickups’ V6 and V8 engines distinguish them from smaller compact trucks. Muscle trucks are the high performance versions of the trucks and additionally, Sport Utility Truck (SUT) is a marketing term for pickups deriving from SUVs. Specialty trucks are equipped with extra off road capabilities and finally in coupe pickups rear body is joined to the front body.
